Whether you are taking this course as the foundation of your studies in the Bachelor of Multimedia Studies or as an elective, I hope you will find it stimulating, challenging and rewarding. These weekly readings and tutorial pages constitute the content of the course. The readings pages have been designed to step you through a series of perspectives on Multimedia. The exercise pages have been designed to give you some solid Multimedia skills. The issues and ideas discussed in the weekly readings will give you a context for the skills you develop in the exercises.

This Study Guide has been split into two sections. The weekly lessons are developed to incorporate substantial readings from the textbook by Tay Vaughan (2003), "Multimedia: Making it Work". Alongside the textbook there are sections in the lessons that incorporate some basic semiotic theory. Theory is only used in this course to inform practice. The other section is the weekly exercises which will enhance your skills in the practical component of multimedia.

Textbook:

Vaughan, Tay, 2003, Multimedia: Making it Work, 6 th Ed., McGraw-Hill, Sydney.
