Faculty of Informatics and Communication (Infocom)
The Faculty of Informatics and Communication, established 1 January
1998, seeks to combine the technological and human aspects of
contemporary communication in a unique way.
The Faculty's Research Mission Statement is:
To provide opportunities for research excellence in Information Technology and Communication.
These opportunities will be in the broad areas of:
- Community Informatics, Health Informatics and Electronic Commerce
- Contemporary Communication
- Intelligent Systems and Complex Systems.
This Research Mission Statement is underpinned by the Strategic Research Goal:
To attain a regional, national and international reputation for research.
Our Faculty has a strong
multidisciplinary focus with a progressive work-place culture. With the
new technologies such as the Internet, electronic commerce and
multimedia being developed within the Faculty, we are building a strong
platform from which the Faculty can undertake collaborative research
with community, public and private enterprise, business and industry.
