o       A generic process for establishing informatics principles enabling clinical information systems to support nursing practice.

o       Improving shared antenatal care by computer-supported routine use of a basic data set for antenatal care.

o       Develop a practical toolkit of ways to measure the safety and quality of clinical services within healthcare facilities across Australia.

·            2002 Commonwealth Department of Health and Aging, Research and Provide Expert Advice on Standards relevant to electronic health records and the roles, current directions and priorities of major international standards organisations (including Standards Australia) regarding health information standards relevant to EHRs.

·            2001 Faculty Advancement/Top-up Grant to study Cost Determination: Development of a Methodology to Allocate Academic Input Costs Relative to Output Activities. Co-recipient Dr Greg Whymark

·            2000 Faculty Research Grant to study relationships between patient acuity, outcomes of nursing care, nurse staffing levels and skillmix variables for selected groups of patients in a teaching hospital. Co-recipient Dr Kevin Tickle.

·            1997 University Research Grant to research if there is a link between patient acuity, outcomes and nursing skill mix at the Prince Charles hospital in Brisbane. Co-recipient Ms Sandra Walker, Lecturer Faculty of Health Science.

·            1995 Queensland Health consultancy contract to review and update standard time values associated with each PAIS nurse dependency category for general medical/surgical and midwifery patients.

·            1993 Research Incentive Grant from the Faculty of Health Science to develop an object oriented database for a Nursing Data Dictionary and Thesaurus - Co recipient Bruce Shannon Lecturer Faculty of Health Science.

·            1993 Casemix Study Grant from the Commonwealth Department of Health, Housing, Local Government and Community Service under the Casemix Development Program - Co recipient Dr. Greg Whymark ,

·            1990 and 1991 Private Hospitals Association of Victoria consultancy contract for research into hospital nursing work which led to the development of a point factor position evaluation system for nurses now used in 35 private hospitals.
