About meBefore joining Infocom as a lecturer, I worked in a number of technical roles within CQU and outside in industry. My core professional skills are Oracle database and UNIX systems administration. If pressed about technology, I admit to enjoying coding in Perl and doing "systems" programming. Sometimes I even admit to liking Linux - but not often. I gained my undergrad computing degree at CQU and am currently undertaking a PhD through the Faculty of Business and Law in IS/IT decision making in senior management. Working for a number of employers in the IT industry has led me to ask: "how do senior managers make decisions about complex IS/IT issues?" - if you think you know, please email me! What work do I do?Apart from lecturing and my studies, I am interested in database and operating systems management. I perform Oracle DBA consulting when time permits. What else do I like?Because I spend so much of my time surrounded by IT and technology in general, it's nice to get away from the incessant beeping and fan-whiring occasionally. When I do, I like to do things like throwing paint at boards and setting them on fire (attempts at art), catching and cooking marine life (fishing and cooking) and avoiding shopping centres (self preservation).I am particularly fond of drinking good wine and eating fantastic food. My ultimate goal in life is to own a cafe by the beach. That's why I work in IT ;-) Open spaces with views are important to me - preferably within easy access of appropriately non-tent-like, climate controlled facilities with hot and cold running everything. Apart from that, I enjoy reading and listening to music (anything from classical to tragic 80's to techno). Occasionally, I like to do seal impressions to scare the neighbours. I also have two small cats. |
