Creative Communities

The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts has recently conducted a study into creative industries that produce digital content such as electronic games, films, television and interactive multimedia software. The results of this three-part study are available in PDF format at the Australian Culture and Recreation web site.

One of the issues identified in this study is whether Australia will evolve into an active exporter of digital content and services or remain a passive consumer. Will we transform our creative cottage industry into a globally competitive producer or will we be content to accept US dominance of creative, cultural, entertainment and educational media? The choice is ours to make.
